Report: US, Saudi tensions rise after start of Ukraine operation

WASHINGTON, Apr 20 (PRIME) -- The tensions in relations between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia have increased after the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported late on Tuesday, citing sources.

After the start of the operation, the global oil prices spiked without Saudi Arabia’s participation, which is why the U.S. tends to think that the Saudi authorities prefer to develop relations with the Kremlin. The members of the royal family declined proposals to hold phone conversations with the U.S. authorities several times in March.

A source told the newspaper that the U.S. demanded that Saudi Arabia raise oil output in order to reduce the prices, but the Saudis did not react to the request.
